Sharon Peterson Fine Art

From an early age, I knew that art would be my lifelong passion. Colors excite me and inspire everything I create. I work primarily with watercolors, enjoying the delicate layering of color on watercolor paper and experimenting with masa rice paper to achieve a batik-like effect. In addition to watercolor, I explore acrylic painting, where vibrant colors and rich textures bring my canvases to life. I find joy in building texture and depth, ensuring each piece bursts with energy and invites viewers to engage.
My subject matter is deeply rooted in my love for the West — horses, cowboys, and all things western fill my imagination and canvas. When I encounter a scene, it’s the excitement of imagining how to transform it into a compelling work that "says Look at Me" that drives my creative process. I aim to capture the spirit and vividness of the western world in every piece.

What sets my work apart is the unique blending of traditional and unconventional techniques. My gourd art combines natural forms with intricate beadwork, weaving, wood burning, and dremel carving, creating vibrant, textured pieces that celebrate western heritage in a fresh and tactile way. On canvas, I pursue vivid abstractions of color, using bright hues and layered textures to evoke emotion and movement.

Through color, texture, and a flair for capturing western themes, my art invites viewers into a world that is both familiar and boldly reimagined. Creating these pieces never grows old for me; color makes me happy, and sharing that joy through my work is my greatest reward.
