About the Artist

The Ride of a Lifetime
My bio
At the age of four and a half I knew I wanted to be an artist. My friend’s parent would drive us to Saturday drawing classes at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. All those beautiful paintings: I wanted to do that. In high school I participated in every art class available. After graduating I enrolled in commercial art, which included fashion, drawing, and photography. One of the larger printing companies in St. Paul gave me my first commercial art job.
After my children grew and left home, I was provided with the opportunity to fulfill my dream of painting in watercolors. This was one of the most difficult mediums to master. It took a lot of paper, paint, patience and practice to master. I experimented with florals, portraits and animal portraits. I attended many workshops with local and nationally know artists. My subject of choice was and still is, the horse. I try to portray the horse in a different way. Through these workshops, I created a bond with five watercolorist, my “art buddies.” We met for 22 years, painting with a critique to end the session. I owe much of my expertise to these gifted artists.
After moving to Arizona, I gave myself the challenge of working in acrylics, creating abstracts and collage, frequently with horses as the subject of my paintings. I am challenged. The Phoenix area offered many art opportunities. Art groups and Tents shows provided me with the opportunity to meet new artists and collectors. I have since moved away from the tent shows.
